CBSE Board Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up to initiate the registration process for private students planning to appear for the CBSE Class 10th and 12th board examinations in 2024. Starting from September 12, 2023, private candidates can apply online by visiting the official website – The application window will close on October 11. Applicants registering with a late fee have until October 19 to complete their registration.

Eligibility Criteria for Class 12 Private Students

  • Students whose result was declared as “Essential Repeat” in the senior school certificate examination (Class XII) 2023.
  • Students whose result was declared as “FAIL/Essential Repeat” at the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) in the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
  • Students who completed a regular course of studies, were allotted a Roll No. for the Class XII examination, but couldn’t appear for the exam due to medical reasons (except for attendance shortages) at the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) 2023.
  • Students who have been placed in a Compartment in one subject may opt to appear in 5/6 subjects in which they had appeared in the Board’s examinations 2023. Such candidates should select the “Essential Repeat” category when applying online.

The submission of forms for the examination is entirely online, and there’s no need to send a hard copy of the form to CBSE.

  • Visit the official CBSE website at
  • On the homepage, find and click on the “CBSE Board Exam 2023 private students registration” link.
  • Click on the examination form link and fill in the required details.
  • Double-check the details, upload necessary documents, and pay the application fee.
  • Submit the CBSE board exam form and download the confirmation page.

Examination Fee

  • ndian students registering for 5 subjects: Rs. 1,500 (Visual-impaired candidates are exempt from the examination fee).
  • Late fee will be applicable if the form is submitted after the last date.

Before filling out the form, candidates should carefully review the eligibility and pass criteria, as well as the current curriculum and scheme of studies available on the CBSE website. More details can be found in the official notification.

This registration process is essential for private students planning to take the CBSE Class 10th and 12th board examinations in February, March, and April 2024.
