By doing so, CUET seeks to foster better connections with these Central Universities and simplify the admission process. Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know about CUET UG 2024, including its exam pattern, marking scheme, eligibility criteria, and syllabus:

Role of NTA (National Testing Agency)

  • NTA’s role in CUET is primarily focused on candidate registration, conducting the test, releasing answer keys, handling challenges, finalizing answer keys, declaring results, and hosting the Score Card.
  • Participating universities/organizations will prepare a merit list for admissions based on CUET scores.

CUET 2024 Exam Pattern

  • CUET (UG) will be conducted entirely in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
  • Questions will be presented in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • The question paper will consist of objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

CUET 2024 Syllabus

The syllabus for CUET UG 2024 includes the following sections  :

  • Language  : Tested through Reading Comprehension (based on various types of passages, including Factual, Literary, and Narrative) and Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary.

  • General Test  : Comprises General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (simple application of basic mathematical concepts in arithmetic/algebra/geometry/mensuration/statistics), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

CUET Medium of Questions

Medium of the Question Papers  : Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the CUET (UG) will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

CUET UG Eligibility

  • There is no age limit for candidates appearing in CUET (UG) – 2024.
  • Candidates who have passed the class 12 or equivalent examination or are scheduled to appear in 2023, regardless of their age, are eligible to take the CUET (UG) – 2023 examination.

CUET UG Marking Scheme

  • For Multiple Choice Questions, candidates need to select the correct or most appropriate answer.
  • Correct answers or the most appropriate answers will be awarded five marks (+5).
  • An incorrect option marked will result in a deduction of one mark (-1).
  • Unanswered or Marked for Review questions will receive no marks (0).
  • If more than one option is correct, candidates who marked any of the correct options will receive five marks (+5).
  • If all options are correct, all candidates who attempted the question will receive five marks (+5).
  • In cases where none of the options is correct, a question is wrong, or a question is dropped, all candidates who attempted the dropped question will receive five marks (+5).

Candidates can follow these steps to complete the CUET UG 2024 application process  :

  • Visit the official website at
  • Register by providing personal details and contact information.
  • Complete the CUET 2024 application form using the system-generated registration or application number.
  • Upload scanned documents, including photographs, signatures, Class 10 documents, etc.
  • Make the online payment of the application fee.
  • Submit the CUET UG application.
  • Download, save, and print the confirmation page.

CUET Exam Schedule

  • The examination will be conducted over multiple days, with three shifts per day.
  • The specific timing and duration of the examination will be notified later.
  • Candidates must adhere to the time stated in their respective Admit Cards.
