The Defence Geoinformatics Research Establishment, a part of the prestigious Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has opened its doors for talented candidates across various disciplines. The DRDO has announced several vacancies for these positions, and the application process is now open. Vacancy Details

Here’s a breakdown of the available positions and their respective qualifications:

  • Computer Science/Computer Engineering/IT (5 vacancies)  :

    • Qualification  :
      • BE/BTech in first division with NET/GATE in Computer Science/Engineering or Information Technology from a recognized university or
      • ME/MTech in first division in both graduate and postgraduate levels in Computer Science/Engineering or
      • MS in first division in Computer Science.
    • Desirable qualifications  :
      • Knowledge of RS, GIS, JAVA, Python, C/C++, MATLABOracle
      • Experience in areas such as AI/ML/Deep Learning / Big data Analytics / Data Science.
      • Knowledge of numerical modeling/simulation and coding
  • Physics/Geophysics (2 vacancies)  :

    • Qualification  :
      • MS in Physics in the first division with NET in Physics/Geophysics.
    • Desirable  : Knowledge of numerical modeling/simulation and coding.
  • Computer Fluid Dynamics/Thermal Engineering (1 vacancy)  :

    • Qualification  :
      • ME/MTech in the first division in both graduate and postgraduate levels in Computer Fluid Dynamics/Thermal Engineering.
    • Desirable qualifications  :
      • Programming in C/C++ or other languages.
      • Knowledge of numerical methods.
      • Knowledge of CFD software.
  • Mechanical Engineering (1 vacancy)  :

    • Qualification  :
      • BE/BTech in the first division with NET/GATE in Mechanical Engineering or
      • ME/MTech in the first division (both at graduate and postgraduate level) in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Desirable qualifications  :
      • Knowledge of mechanical engineering design/mechatronics.
      • Knowledge of mechanical engineering software like SOLID WORKS, ANSYS. Good programming skills in VB.net/MATLAB.
      • Knowledge of modeling and simulation of systems (3D ModelingANSYS).
  • Geo-informatics/Geomatics (3 vacancies)  :

    • Essential qualification  :
      • BE/BTech in the first division with NET/GATE in Geo-informatics/Geomatics or equivalent from a recognized university or
      • ME/MTech in the first division (both at graduate and postgraduate level) in the field of Remote Sensing/Geo-informatics/ Geomatics/Geospatial Technology/Spatial Information Technology or
      • MS in the first division with NET in Remote Sensing/Geo-informatics.
    • Desirable qualifications  :
      • Knowledge and handling of SAR (Polarimetry, Hybrid Polarimetry, and InSAR) data processing.
      • Exposure to various Image Processing and Remote Sensing & GIS software: ERADS, ArcGIS, SNAP Tool, QGIS, etc., and computer programming, AI-based analysis, and modeling.
      • Knowledge about geospatial modeling techniques and experience of fieldwork in snow & glacier areas.

  • Government/Public Sector employees must attach an NOC from their department.

  • Ensure your application is complete and accurate. Incomplete or incorrect applications will be rejected.

  • Submit your application and documents in scanned format to hrd.itr@gov.in.

Important Informations

  • Application Deadline: The last date to submit your application is September 22, 2023, at 1700 hrs (Friday).

  • Interview Details: Interviews will be conducted either via Video Conferencing or in Physical Mode, exclusively for shortlisted candidates. Shortlisted candidates will receive SMS/Email notifications regarding the mode, date, and timing of the interview.

  • Eligibility for Interview: Only candidates who have submitted their applications along with the necessary supporting documents and have been shortlisted after scrutiny will be invited for the interview.

  • Contact Information: Candidates must possess a valid email address and an active mobile number for communication throughout the recruitment process.

  • Age Limit: The maximum age limit for JRF candidates is 28 years as of September 22, 2023. Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates, and 3 years for OBC candidates.

  • Fellowship Emoluments: Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000, along with applicable House Rent Allowance (HRA) and medical facilities as per rules.

  • Tenure: The JRF position is temporary, with a maximum tenure of 5 years. Initially, the tenure will be 2 years and can be extended to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the remaining 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance following DRDO guidelines.

  • Communication: All communication will be conducted via email.

  • Rights of Director: The Director of ITR Chandipur reserves the right to amend, modify, or cancel this advertisement, as well as to cancel admission or selection at any time without providing a reason.

  • Absorption in DRDO: It’s important to note that the offer of Fellowship does not guarantee absorption into DRDO.

  • Document Verification: Selected candidates must bring original certificates for proof of date of birth, mark sheets, GATE/NET certificates, degree certificates, and caste certificates (if applicable), along with testimonials and self-attested copies for verification. Any form of canvassing will result in termination of candidature.

  • Verification Procedures: Police verification, medical tests, and verification of antecedents of selected candidates will be carried out as per Government rules.

  • Travel Allowance: No Travel Allowance (TA)/Dearness Allowance (DA) will be provided for attending the interview.
